ROH TV Review - August 19th, 2015

1) Silas Young vs. Dalton Castle
It's honestly kind of weird how perfect of a match these two are for each other. It never even crossed my mind when I first saw Castle, but thankfully ROH saw it & capitalized because it's been giving a bright spot to an otherwise pretty dull ROH undercard. Despite that, this was actually the most disappointing match up of their feud thus far. It just never clicked or picked up any steam like it has in the past. The best way to describe it is as your average match from both guys which isn't horrible, just not something that will leave you talking. Castle gets the win after some distraction from The Boys.

Match rating - **1/2

Kevin Kelly has Bobby Fish at ringside for an interview on his victory in the TV Title tournament and what the future holds for ReDragon. Fish makes a bold claim in that Jay Lethal won't be TV Champ when he faces him because he thinks Lethal will lose it to Hanson. This brings a furious Jay Lethal down to ringside. He & Fish get into a yelling match as Kevin speeds onto the next segment which is a video package hyping the Field of Honor shows this weekend!

Speaking of those shows, what loaded cards! Roddy/Okada, Briscoes/Timesplitters, Cole/Nakamura - consider me sold! And beyond that, what a weekend we have ahead of us with two nights of big ROH/NJPW shows, NXT Live Special with Big Kev & Balor in a Ladder Match and Jushin Liger debuting, PLUS SummerSlam to cap it all off on Sunday! But back to ROH..

2) Moose vs. Will Ferrara
Meh. Prolonged squash for Moose here. Ferrara looked good while it lasted though. I dig Moose, but this was all too predictable. Over in five.

Match rating - **

3) The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Baretta)
I think the YB's are trying to kill me. I just finished watching them tear the house down with Evans & Angelico in PWG and now this. Good gracious. I have no clue how they do what they do because I get exhausted just from watching ONE of their matches. Imagine doing it every week, sometimes multiple times a week. Those guys are workhorses. Anyway, this was a ton of fun as you'd expect. I was so burnt out from the stuff I watched earlier that I couldn't get overly into this, but it delivered everything you'd expect it to. Flips and kicks of all kinds, innovative counters & combinations, yeah. RPG Vice hit a cool doomsday device/knee strike thing off the apron to the floor, The Bucks did a moonsault/dive combo, and that's just for starters. The Bucks pick up the win with More Bang For Your Buck in a good main event.

Match rating - ***1/2

Daniels, Kazarian, & Chris Sabin jump The Bucks after the match. They tape Matt Jackson to the ropes as Nick tries to fight back only to get knocked back down. All three members of The Addiction do a mock superkick party on Matt before Daniels & Kazarian hit the Indy Taker on Nick. I was expecting Future Shock to make the save here since they are facing The Addiction for the tag belts in the main event next week. Unfortunately, they never did. Daniels, Kazarian, & Sabin close the show with a firm hand over essentially the entire tag team division as the crowd boos.
