ROH TV Review - March 1st, 2014

ROH TV Review - March 1st, 2014

Michael Elgin opens the show with a promo about how Matt Hardy couldn't make it tonight so he had to choose another opponent. He talks about how ROH gives young wrestlers a chance and thats why he chose a talent that is new to ROH, Raymond Rowe.

1) Michael Elgin vs. Raymond Rowe

Solid opening match between Elgin and Rowe. If given more time it could have been much better, but this was good for what it was. Elgin gave Rowe a pretty bad beating including powerbombing him into the railing. Rowe kept coming back, but in the end the veteran Michael Elgin came out victorious.

Match rating - 6/10

2) Jay Briscoe vs. Michael Bennett

This all started when Adam Cole attacked Michael Elgin after his match. Mike Bennett joined in on the beatdown which brought out Jay Briscoe. Briscoe went after Bennett with a series of hardhitting moves such as suplexing him on the entrance ramp. The action finally got back in the ring where Briscoe and Bennett trading various manuevers. It was pretty back and forth until Adam Cole came down and distracted Briscoe. Although Bennett got help from Cole, Briscoe was able to hit the Jay Driller and get the win. Good match.

Match rating - 6.5/10

3) AJ Styles vs. Jay Lethal

As expected, Styles and Lethal put on a great match. I always love watching these two compete and they put in a solid performance here. There were alot of big moves in this match such as Styles suplexing Lethal on the ring apron. There were also some good exchanges as it was a very back and forth match with no man getting a clear advantage. Styles and Lethal ended up trading strikes in the center of the ring in which Lethal got the advantage. Styles fought his way back and hit a powerbomb on Lethal before planting him with the Styles Clash for the victory! Great match!

Match rating - 8/10

Overall thoughts: Solid episode of ROH TV this week. The storylines progressed very well and Styles & Lethal put on an outstanding match. So if you missed it, I'd definitely say it's worth checking out. Looking forward to next week's main event which pits Adam Cole against Chris Hero for the ROH World Championship!
